Carla G Kent, 66, of Clinton unexpectedly passed away at 11:01 p.m. on April 23, 2026 at Union
Hospital Clinton. She was born on September 13, 1959 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Jack and
Flonnia Bea Groves. She went to Aiea High School in Hawaii her freshman and sophomore
years, and junior and senior years at Rantoul High School in Illinois, where she was a 1977
graduate. She met the love of her life, Albert Kent, after moving to Clinton with her family after
her dad retired from the United States Air Force. They were married on August 10, 1983 in
Clinton while Albert was on leave from the United States Army while transferring from basic
training to his electronics technical school. While moving from location to location with Albert,
she held many jobs. She was a manager of Bath and Body Works, a school secretary, and a
florist at several locations. Carla was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sandra K
Groves. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Albert Kent of Clinton; her daughter
Amber Shahheydari (Cyrus) of Newnan, Georgia; son Zachary of Clinton; sister Donna Groves of
Blanford; brother Jack Groves JR (Joann) of Danville, Indiana; brother-in-law Chuck Kent (Sandy)
and several nieces and nephews. Carla loved many things including shopping with friends and
relatives, sitting on a beach with a good book, and adventures with her husband. What she
loved most in this world was her friends and family. Anyone who knew Carla would attest to
her warmth and ability to hug you in a way that fixed all your problems.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27 at Giovannini Funeral Home.
At 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, prayers will be led by Gary Hamke followed by the rosary led
by good friend Janet Waldrop. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
