Garry R Cox, 83, of Clinton, Indiana, passed away at 2:17 p.m. on April 17, 2026, in Clinton
after a very brief battle with metastatic lung cancer. Those fortunate enough to have known
Garry will not be surprised to learn that he chose to leave this earth on his own terms. He was
able to spend his last days comfortably, pain free and at home with those that he loved.
He was born on January 1, 1943, in New Goshen, Indiana, to Russell Cox and Dorothy (Trinkle)
Cox. Garry dedicated many years of service working in commercial metering for Public Service
Indiana. He served in the Army reserves from 1963 - 1969, He had been a member of the Blanford
Sportsman’s Club, the National Rifle Association, and the Bowhunter’s Club. He was a proud
member of F&AM Jerusalem Lodge 99 for many years. He was in the Army Reserves from 1963 to 1969.
On November 24, 1966, he married Judith Spurr, who survives.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Peggy Rogers; and his son-in-law, Tim
“Ooch” Waldrop.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judith Cox of Clinton; his daughter, Karen
Waldrop; his grandsons, Tanner and Royce Waldrop; and three great-grandchildren, Killian
Waldrop, Asher Waldrop, and Scarlett Waldrop all of Clinton; sister, Joyce Simpson of
Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with Masonic
services at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026,
at Giovannini Funeral Home with Pastor Jake Guinn officiating.
