Linda Spence

Linda was born on November 30th, 1948, and raised in Columbus, IN before the family moved to Clinton, IN in 1962. Being the only girl in a family full of boys, Linda was teased about being the favorite daughter, though she didn't settle on getting this title only through birthright. When it came to organizing family carry-ins, sending birthday cards, or preparing favored recipes like lasagna for supper or lady fingers for dessert, no one managed the chaos quite like Linda.

Beyond baking delicious cakes and seasonal pies, Linda's hobbies were not limited to the kitchen. Whether battling her nephews for first place in UNO or traveling to national parks to visit waterfalls and lighthouses, Linda loved trying new things and exploring new places.

In her final moments, Linda was surrounded by her family. She went peacefully into the arms of the Lord with the echoes of laughter and love filling the room as family shared stories and memories.

Linda was preceded in death by her father John A. Rutan and Ed and Eva Spence. She is survived by her mother Martha Rutan; her two children Jeremy (Michelle) and Valerie Spence; grandchildren Jeffrey Wade, Jonathan, Ethan, Liam Spence, Tyler Chaney, Emily Fitch; great grandchildren Ella Spence and Mylah Chaney; and brothers Chester (Freida), Steven (Vicki), and Charles (Cherri) Rutan and their children.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Giovanini Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 PM with Pastor Duane Caperton officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
