Linda Tressie Varvel

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully, ending her courageous battle with dementia. Those who knew and loved her are encouraged to join us at visitation and are most welcome to pray the rosary following. Next day Mass/Funeral celebrating her journey to Heaven and immediately following she will be laid to rest next to our father, where they will to be together Forever Through Christ. Linda Tressie Varvel (81) of Terre Haute and formerly of Clinton passed away at 12:13 AM, February 20, 2026, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. Born February 26, 1944, in Muncie, Indiana to Tophel Secuskie and Tressie Phillips Secuskie. Linda was a member of Sacred Heart Church – Clinton and a retired elementary school teacher at the former Sacred Heart School in Clinton. She married Michael “Mickey” Varvel on May 13, 1967. Linda was preceded in death by her Husband; Michael Varvel (September 12, 2011) two brothers; Ernie and Buddy Secuskie and one sister; Laurel Whitaker.

She is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth “Libby” Donna and her husband Brian of Terre Haute. Katie Wake and her husband Jamie of Clinton. Two sons; Mick Varvel Jr. of Clinton and Joe Varvel of Blanford. Seven grandchildren; Madison, Bethie, Cara, Carlie, Joe Coy, Celia and John Franklin. One great grandson Daclen Hatton. Two nieces; Kim Wickens, and Bethany Karanovich. Eight nephews; Ed Whitaker, Dave Whitaker, Tom Whitaker, Tophel Secuskie III, Gary Secuskie, E.J. Secuskie, Casey Secuskie and Matt Secuskie.

Prayer service will be at Giovanini Funeral Home at 10;45 AM, Thursday, February 26, 2026, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church – Clinton, with Fr. Joby Puthussery officiating. Burial will follow at Spangler Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with rosary being recited at 7:30 PM.
