UNIVERSAL — Michael
"Mike" L. Massa, 73, of Uni-
versal, died at 5:02 a.m. Thurs-
day, March 23, 2017, at Union
Hospital in Terre Haute. He
was born Jan. 7, 1944, in Clin-
ton, to John and Cynthia Con-
tri Massa.
He was a coal miner for
Peabody Coal and Laborer In-
ternational Union 204 in Terre
Haute and former farmer. He
married Reggie Hendrix on
June 24, 1991.
He was a member of the
Coal Miners Union, Universal
Young Men's Club, National
Rifle Association, Sacred
Heart Church in Clinton and
Clinton High School 1962.
Mike was an avid hunter and
fisherman and loved the out-
doors andWisconsin.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, John P. Massa
(Dec. 21, 1987) and Cynthia
Massa (Feb. 14,1996); and first
wife, Sue Massa (Dec.
30,1988).
Survivors includes his
wife, Regina Massa; sons,
Michael, Matthew, Nick, and
Mickey; grandchildren, Au-
tumn, Emily, Dylan, and Daw-
son; sister, Roseangela
(Robert) Burton of Clinton;
and several nieces and
nephews.
Services are 11 a.m. Mon-
day, March 27, 2017, at Gio-
vanini Funeral Home with
Celebrant Marta Adubato offi-
ciating. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the
funeral home. Memorial con-
tributions can be made to Vis-
iting Nurses Association. En-
