Robert Carson Steed

Robert Carson Steed (82) of Clinton made his final voyage home September 12, 2025, at 7:06 a.m. at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, Indiana. Born July 30, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Anthony Steed and Norma Carson Steed. Robert married Rita K. (Noblitt-Muciarelli) on July 31, 1993, in the Walnut Grove Cemetery Chapel, Clinton, Indiana.

Robert was a retired U.S. Veteran having served in three separate branches of the U.S. Military Service. His career began in the U.S. Navy (1961 thru 1977. During this time, he served three tours of duty in Viet Nam. In 1979 through 1989 he served with the Air National Guard (181st Fighter Wing, Hulman Field), in 1989 he was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard transferring to the United States Army Retired Reserve in June of 1989. He proudly carried his “hip pocket orders” until his full retirement at the age of 60.

He served as an Elder in the First Christian Church of Clinton; He participated in many Walk to Emmaus teams following his original walk #60 at Merom. Sgt. Steed was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert E. Steed, one grandson William and one niece Melissa Land.

Survivors include his wife Rita of 33 years. Sister Mary Smith Long of Sullivan, daughter Tammy (Richard) Fulton, Athens, TX. Bonus sons John Muciarelli, Clinton and James (Margaret) Muciarelli, Brownsburg. Grandchildren Nicholas Mifflin, Ohio, Cassandra (Levi) Rolston, Jacksonville, Fla and Andrew (Kelly) Mifflin, and Ryder Steed of Linton, and two bonus grandsons Mario and Joseph Muciarelli. Four great granddaughters, Alauna and Loraine Rolston and Madison and Natalie Mifflin. Niece Kim (Jeff) Figg of Sullivan and two nephews, Gary (Jeanie) Smith of Linton and Brent (Debbie) Smith of Texas. His special care pro Ashley Sister, Best Bud Randy Wright and his 30-pound cat Red Kitty.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Giovanini Funeral Home in Clinton. Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 17, 2025, with Pastor Larry Kelsheimer officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.
