Clinton businessman Russel F. Wilson, 92, passed away on September 9 at 4:38
a.m. at Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus in Terre Haute.
Rusty was the elder child of Russell M. and Freida B. Wilson. He was born in
Clinton on November 30, 1932. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and
graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1950.
After attending Xavier University in Cincinnati for a time, Rusty returned to
Clinton to assist in running the family Ford dealership. After the death of his
father in 1957, Rusty continued to be a fixture at Clinton Ford until he retired on
his 84th birthday, November 30, 2016.
His retirement years were spent in well-deserved relaxation enjoying the
company of his “Honey”, watching and listening to NASCAR races, spending time
at Daytona Beach and being a walking Clinton history book.
Rusty is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marlene “Honey” Wilson, son Tom
(Nancy), daughter Terri Williamson (Jeff), sister Dorothy Felix of Broken Arrow,
Oklahoma, granddaughters Natalie DeLeon (Rolando) of San Antonio, Texas, and
Amanda DeWitt (Josh) of Clinton, step-grandsons David and Scott Filchak of
Clinton, great-grandchildren Emma and Madeline Dewitt and Davin Filchak of
Clinton, and Cheyanne and Cassidy DeLeon of San Antonio, along with many
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 12 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Giovanini Funeral
Home in Clinton. With Rosary at 8:00 PM. Prayer service will be on Saturday, September 13 at 9:45 a.m. at
the Funeral Home with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart
Church of Clinton, with Father Joby Puthussery officiating.
Rusty requested memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart of Clinton or
the Zorah Shrine Transportation Committee, Terre Haute.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Union Hospital Clinton and Terre
Haute, Providence Healthcare, and Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus, along with
Hospice of the Wabash Valley for their compassion and caring for Rusty during his
illness and passing.
