Marion Satterlee Obituary

Marion Jane Satterlee, longtime resident of Clinton, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, in Nashville, TN, at the age of 102. Born on February 3, 1921, in Clinton, IN, Marion was the daughter of the late Parmer and Edith King Runyan.

Marion's life was a testament to love, resilience, and community commitment. After graduating from Clinton High School in 1939, she married Clyde Satterlee in 1941, and together they moved to Chicago where Marion worked as a teletype operator for U.S. Steel South Works. Upon retirement, the couple returned to Clinton, where Marion became an active member of the community. She participated in various local clubs, including the Vermillion County Extension Homemakers, Helt’s Prairie Home Extension Club, Vermillion County American Heart Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Estabrook Chapter. She was also a member of the Wayside Methodist Church.

In 2021, at the remarkable age of 100, Marion moved to Franklin, TN, to be near her grandson. Her heart remained connected to her roots despite the physical distance.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Satterlee, her sister Ilean Satterlee, and her son Larry Satterlee. She is survived by her two grandsons, Josh (Jill) Satterlee, and Jesse (Tiffany) Satterlee and great-grandson, Rory. Marion is also survived by her daughter-in-law Elisabeth L. Satterlee, niece Duane Petersen, and nephews Jerry (Cindy) Satterlee, Terry (Joanne) Satterlee, Lonnie Satterlee, and Richard Satterlee.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, December 28, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Giovanini Funeral Home in Clinton, IN, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Terry Jeffers officiating.  Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
